Atlanta After School Teen Identity Programs Can Increase Teenage Confidence

Teenager Identity Development

Identity development during a child’s teenage years is critical. The creation of a confident and stable sense of self is one of the most important aspects of being teenager. These formative years are the first time a young adult starts to think about how their identity may impact their future and other aspects of their life. Due to this normal process, many teenagers become extremely self-conscious.

For some teenagers, identity development occurs in an uneventful manner. Yet, with other teenagers, it can be a difficult aspect of their life – sometimes leading to risky and promiscuous behavior that could create lasting negative effects.

It is important for parents of troubled teens to understand that, with treatment and specific teen-oriented programs, teenagers can find a healthy path for identity development again. Credible, established, and unique teenage programs can redirect risky behavior towards developing good communication skills and work ethics.

Equine assisted learning programs are proving to be a successful treatment option that is well suited for at risk or disadvantaged youth. Studies have shown that spending time with horses can reduce levels of stress, build confidence, and provide an outlet for healthy self-expression. Teens Voice USA offers after school programs to assist teens in recognizing their emotional challenges and behavior tendencies, and developing the knowledge, skills, and attributes needed to build a healthy self-identity.
